Description

Kiulu River – A Day of Flow

Leave the bustle of Kota Kinabalu behind and journey into Tamparuli, where the Kiulu River winds through emerald valleys and suspension bridges sway gently above its currents. This is not just rafting—it’s a day-long immersion in Sabah’s landscapes, where adventure and serenity meet.

The Journey Begins

At 8:30 a.m., your guide collects you from your city hotel. The drive east takes about ninety minutes, unfolding scenes of rural life and mountain silhouettes. Your first stop: the Tamparuli Suspension Bridge, a landmark of local lore. Walk its length, feel the sway beneath your feet, and take in the panorama of river and village life.

Into the River

From Pukak or Sukang, the river guide outfits you with helmets, paddles, and life jackets. Sunblock applied, photos snapped, and briefing complete—you step into the raft. For the next two hours, you’ll ride seven to eight kilometers of gentle rapids and calm stretches, a perfect balance for beginners and families. Laughter rises with each splash, teamwork builds with every paddle stroke, and the river carries you steadily toward Kiulu Town.

Riverside Pause

At the end point, you change into dry clothes and gather for a riverside lunch. The air smells of grilled dishes, the sound of water lingers, and the camaraderie of the raft continues around the table.

Return to the City

By mid-afternoon, you’re back in Kota Kinabalu, refreshed and exhilarated, with stories to tell and memories to keep.
