Description

Departure from Kuala Lumpur

At 8:00 AM, your driver greets you at your hotel in the city center or at the Malaysia Tourism Centre on Jalan Ampang. Within minutes you leave the skyline behind and head toward Tanjong Karang, a town divided by the Sungai Tengi river, its two halves connected by a bridge. The drive feels like a transition, from urban rhythm to the slower pulse of the countryside.

Arrival at Tanjong Karang

After a brief stop in Kuala Lumpur and a drive past the Cape of Corals, you arrive at Taman Agroteknologi MARDI Tanjong Karang. For 3 hours, you step into the Rice Innovation Gallery. The exhibits reveal the evolution of rice varieties, the mechanization of harvests, and the research that sustains Malaysia’s staple grain. Demonstrations of rice processing bring the story to life, while cycling paths and board activities add a playful rhythm to the learning.

Hands-on Farming

This is where the experience deepens. You ride a tractor through the paddies, plant rice seedlings with your own hands, and try fishing in the irrigation canals. Each gesture connects you to centuries of tradition. The mud between your toes, the seedlings in your palms, the patience of casting a line—all remind you that farming is both labor and pulse.

Coconut Pause and Local Lunch

The fields give way to refreshment at Coconut Shake Pasir Penambang. For 30 minutes, you sip fresh young coconut water and enjoy a locally prepared set lunch. The sweetness of the coconut balances the sun, and the flavors of the meal ground the day in taste.

Return to Kuala Lumpur

By early afternoon, the tour concludes. You return to Kuala Lumpur carrying not just photographs but the memory of being part of the paddy’s living story.

Tour Details and Policies

The experience lasts 5 hours and welcomes travelers of all ages, from infants to seniors. It includes hotel pickup and drop-off within 0.5 km of KLCC, transport by air‑conditioned car, van, or bus, an English‑speaking driver, entry to Tanjong Karang and Kuala Selangor, and a local set lunch. Additional beverages, personal expenses, and insurance are not included. Pickup outside a 5 km radius from the city center carries a surcharge of USD 10, payable on the day.

The price begins at USD 97 per adult, varying by group size. You can reserve now and pay later, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time. The tour is not wheelchair accessible, infants must sit on laps, and a moderate amount of walking is involved. Comfortable shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat, and a change of clothes are recommended. Food venues may change depending on availability, but the authenticity of the experience is guaranteed.

From the first tractor ride to the last sip of coconut water, the itinerary unfolds like chapters: rice innovation, hands-on farming, cycling through the paddies, fishing in the canals, and pausing for coconut refreshment. By the time you return to Kuala Lumpur, you carry more than knowledge—you carry the rhythm of the paddy fields themselves.
